CWAC Mission Statement
The Chicago Wolfpack Aquatics Club (CWAC) is a developmental and competitive swimming club in the heart of Chicago.  The mission of CWAC
is to embrace all levels of swimmers, providing each and every athlete with the best possible environment and resources that will allow athletes to
progress from novice to the highest level of competition.  The CWAC coaching staff strives to instill in young swimmers an understanding of and
appreciation for such concepts as high self-esteem, personal accountability, sportsmanship, teamwork, self-discipline, goal setting and goal
achievement.  These ideals will translate into each athlete’s success in training, competition and life as they grow and develop into adults.

CWAC Objectives & Values

To encourage and develop excellence in developmental and competitive swimming.

• To promote competitive swimming on a local, regional and national level.

• To develop and promote a program to encourage attendance, develop team unity and build long-term friendships between team members and
club families.

• To operate all of our programs at the highest levels of integrity and fairness.

• To provide a positive environment that is challenging, safe, healthy and rewarding for all athletes.

• To offer a professional, motivated and talented coaching staff.

• To build a base from which we can expand our membership in the community.

Affiliations
CWAC is a charter club of USA Swimming and Illinois Swimming.  All coaches must be USA Swimming Members and have certifications in First Aid,
CPR and Coaches’ Safety Training.  USA Swimming is the governing body for amateur competitive swimming in the United States.

CWAC Terms & Conditions

Before joining CWAC, swimmers must register with USA Swimming and complete the following paperwork:

SWIMMER REGISTRATION FORM
The Swimmer Registration Form must be completed prior to practicing with CWAC.  It includes information on each swimmer such as the mailing
address, phone number, practice group and family e-mail address(es).  The Registration Form includes parent permission for a swimmer to
participate on CWAC.  Also included is the CWAC Code of Conduct, which must be signed by both the parent(s) and swimmer.

USA SWIMMING REGISTRATION
All CWAC swimmers must register with USA Swimming.  This annual membership allows athletes to practice with CWAC and compete in USA
Swimming sanctioned swim meets.  USA Swimming also offers insurance coverage for all swimmers.  The $60.00 fee for membership in USA
Swimming is in addition to the registration fee for the CWAC program and payment must be included with this form.

EMERGENCY HEALTH INFORMATION
This form must be completed prior to practice.  The Emergency Form includes information that is crucial for the coaches to have on hand in case
an emergency situation occurs.  The form includes information on how to contact parents and an alternate person/relative in an emergency.

CLUB TRANSFER
Swimmers who transfer from another USA Swimming team to join CWAC must fill out a Club Transfer Form at the time of registration.  All
transferring swimmers are unattached for 120 days following the last date of competition as a member of the prior team.  While unattached, a
swimmer may practice with CWAC.  The swimmer may also compete in meets but may not represent CWAC or compete on relays until the 120-
day period has expired.

TUITION ACCOUNT
CWAC offers two payments options.  Tuition assistance is available.  Please contact the head coach.

(1)        The amount can be paid in full at the beginning of the season, or
(2)        The amount can be paid in three equal payments the first due at the beginning of the season and two additional payments throughout the
season.

Checks should be made payable to Chicago Wolfpack Aquatics Club (CWAC).  Please note your child’s name on your check.  Payments should
be hand delivered to Coach Stephens or mailed to Coach Stephens at 1076 W Roosevelt Road, Chicago, IL 60608.  CWAC is planning to offer
on-line credit card payments this season through Pay-Pal.  More details to follow.

CHANGING GROUPS
When a swimmer is moved from one group to another, they must begin to pay a pro-rata fee for the higher group.

REFUNDS
Fees are not refundable unless (a) the program is canceled (b) a special circumstance arises or (c) you withdraw from a program for medical
reasons.  Special circumstances might include moving, extended vacation, family crisis, etc.  You should immediately discuss any changes in your
child’s status with their coach and notify the head coach.  If you do not notify the head coach, your account will be charged as though your child
was training for that period.  In the event of a medical withdrawal you will receive a refund for the remaining program if accompanied by a
physician’s order.

MEET ESCROW ACCOUNT
Each swimmer registered with CWAC must set up an Escrow Account.  The account contains funds deposited by the swimmer/family to pay for
entry fees to meets.  Entry fees for one swimmer to an average meet can range between $20 - $25.  For every sanctioned meet that an individual
participates in is a surcharge of $2.00 that goes to USA Swimming.

CWAC requests that you maintain a $100 balance in your escrow account.  Any swimmer who has an outstanding balance due on their account
will not be allowed to compete until the account is current.  Notifications will be sent if a balance is due.  To make a deposit to your account,
please make your check payable to CWAC and write in the notation area of your check that this is an Escrow Deposit.

Once the entries for a swim meet have been turned in to a host team, the swimmer is responsible for their entry fees whether they swim or not.

If your swimmer should ever leave CWAC and you have a credit balance in your account, you may request that a refund be sent to you.
Remember these funds belong to you are to be used for your fees.  Deposits may be made at any time.

Please note that your child’s tuition account and escrow account are two separate accounts.

CWAC Practice Groups
Swimmers are divided into practice groups according to ability level, maturity and age.  Each swimmer is allowed to progress at his/her own pace.
As swimmers progress, they are allowed to move into more advanced training groups.  Swimmers are placed into training groups according to the
coach’s recommendations.

Blue Team – This is an instructional level that introduces swimmers to all aspects of swimming.  All practices involve instruction on proper
swimming technique, body positioning, starts, and turns.  Swimmers learn how enjoyable the sport is while building confidence in their abilities.
Please note that this is not a learn-to-swim program and should not be thought of as swim lessons.  Ages 5-9

Silver III Team – This group builds on the foundation established in the blue group.  Swimmers are encouraged to begin participation in swim
meets.  Swimmers need to be a B level.  Ages 7-10

Silver II Team – This group continues to build on swimming technique while introducing swimmers to competitive swimming and conditioning
training.  Swimmers are proficient at all four competitive strokes.  Conditioning training increases as each swimmer progresses.  Swimmers need
at or near a Regional Time Standard.  Ages 9-12

Silver I Team – This group continues to emphasize swimming technique while building swimmers aerobic base.  Swimmers begin using more
training equipment in addition to more interval work.  Conditioning training increases as each swimmer progresses.  Meet and practice attendance
requirements may be established by the age group coach.  Swimmers need to be at or near an Age Group State Time Standard.  Ages 10-14

Senior Team – This group is for the individual who is looking at swimming more as a form of staying in shape.  There are no attendance and
meet requirements.  Most practices will focus on aerobic training.  Ages 13 & up

National Team – Continued emphasis is placed on swimming technique with a significant amount of time devoted to conditioning and training.
Practices are difficult, physically and mentally.  Swimmers in this group are highly proficient in all four competitive strokes.  Swimmers in this group
desire to compete at a high level.  Double practices are offered in the summer.  Meet and practice attendance requirements may be established
by the senior coach.  Swimmers need to be at or near a Senior State Time Standard.  Ages 13 & up

Team Communication

CWAC Mailboxes (file folders)
- Each family has a mailbox.  The mailboxes are file folders that are available at all practices.  This is the means
by which the team distributes almost everything to you.  Ribbons from meets, schedule updates, team information, newsletters, notifications, etc.
are put into your mailbox.  Be sure to check your mailbox every few practice in order to stay up to date with the team.

CWAC E-MAIL - The primary form of communication with parents is done via e-mail and the internet.  I have found this a very effective method.
The address I will be sending information from is
david.stephens@ignatius.org  Please make sure your e-mail provider does not block our
address.  In addition to being posted on the website, practice changes, updates, new information, etc. are sent via email to each family on a
regular basis.

CWAC Website - The CWAC website contains current information, schedules, downloadable forms and booklets, etc.  Visit the CWAC website at
http://www.cwacswimming.com

Newsletter - In order to keep you up to date with schedule changes, upcoming events, important news, etc., the team publishes a newsletter
(The Stream Line.  If you wish to submit an article or information for the newsletter, give a copy to any coach.  The Stream Line is distributed in
the mailboxes and the website.

CWAC Bulletin Board - The CWAC bulletin board is located at the pool.  Team information, updates, meet results and split sheets are posted on
the bulletin board.  Be sure to check the bulletin board regularly.

Parent Meetings - There will be one at the beginning of the season and as need throughout the year.   Check the newsletter for dates and
times.  These meetings are another opportunity for the coaches to maintain open lines of communication with parents. Any questions relating to
the team are discussed at parent meetings.

CWAC Hot Line - If you have any questions or need to leave a message for a coach, you can call the coach directly.  UIC 312-432-8321, EP 708-
424-7400 x359.  The messages are checked daily and a coach will try to contact you immediately if a reply is requested.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns feel free to talk to any coach on staff.  CWAC is a coach-run team. The coaching staff makes
all decisions regarding the policies and procedures of the team. If you have any concerns, please contact a coach.

Be sure to only talk to coaches AFTER practices or meets.  During practice is obviously not a good time to talk with coaches, nor is before
practice, when they are making final preparations for that session. The same is true for meets.

Always remember that the coaching staff has the best interests of the swimmers in mind. It is always best to talk to the coaches when you have a
problem or concern.
